Itinerary of the Camping Safari northbound Cape Town to Victoria Falls:
Day 1 South Africa – Cederberg Mountain Region Leaving Cape Town we make our first stop at Table View and take photos of Table Mountain from across Table Bay. On the way to the Cederberg we visit !Kwa ttu where we enjoy a San guided tour and museum visit. After the tour, lunch will be prepared and afterwards we continue to our campsite in the Cederberg region. We arrive at our accommodation and your guides will give you a full briefing on the tour. Meals: Lunch, Dinner
Day 2 Namaqualand – Gariep (Orange) River An early start, we head north via the distant town of Springbok, best known for its diamonds, copper and spring flowers. We then proceed to our camp located right beside the Namibian border. The camp is situated on the riverbank that forms the border between South Africa and Namibia. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 3 Namibia – Gariep (Orange) River - Fish River Canyon This morning there’s the chance to see the beautiful river valley by canoe or just relax at camp. After lunch we cross the border and travel to the Fish River Canyon. After a scenic walk along the edge of the canyon we enjoy our dinner while watching the sunset. This is also a fantastic photo opportunity. Optional Activities: Half-Day Canoe Adventure. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 4 Namib-Naukluft National Park We arrive at the Namib-Naukluft National Park and set up camp, then enjoy a short hike into the Sesriem Canyon. Tonight enjoy the star-studded sky and enduring silence of the Namib Desert, only occasionally interrupted by the call of a Jackal or, a rather unique lizard, the barking gecko! Day 5 Sossusvlei Dunes - Namib-Naukluft National Park This is our earliest morning as we prepare for our hike up Dune 45 to marvel at the sunrise. After our hike, we will have the chance to visit Sossusvlei. Later, we join a local expert on a guided hike and learn more about the unique desert ecosystem and how the Bushmen survived in the harsh desert conditions. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 6 Swakopmund After a brief photo stop while crossing the Tropic of Capricorn, we travel onto Namibia’s Atlantic coast and the adventure capital, Swakopmund. Often there are flamingos at the Walvis Bay lagoon, just before we arrive in Swakopmund. You will be briefed on the many optional activities available here and then there is time to explore the town before dinner out at one of the local restaurants. Day 7 Swakopmund The whole day is free to relax, explore or partake in one of the many activities available here. Most popular are quad biking in the Dunes or Tandem Skydiving. On a clear day’s skydiving you can see all the way to the next day’s destination! Taking a walk around Swakopmund’s shops and having a leisurely lunch is also a great way to spend your day. Optional Activities: Quad biking, Sand boarding, Sky Diving, Scenic flights, Dinner out etc. Meals: Breakfast
Day 8 Spitzkoppe Leaving the coast we drive through arid landscapes to Spitzkoppe Mountain. The enormous granite monoliths dominate the otherwise flat landscape and we set up camp in the wild plain at the base. This afternoon our guide will take us on a guided walk to explore the unique rock formations. The more adventurous among us may want to try some mountain climbing behind camp for some stunning views of the landscape. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 9 Himba Tribes After some early morning exploration we continue north and drive towards Kamanjab. Today we have the chance to experience life within a Himba tribe. The Himba are a pastoral people and predominantly breed cattle or goats. They are easily recognisable by their unique style of dress. The Himba have been extremely diligent about upholding the roots of their culture but they are also very curious about visitors to their home. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 10/11 Etosha National Park Etosha is the venue for some of the most unique game viewing experiences in Africa. The sparse grasslands allow great opportunities to see animals normally hidden in dense vegetation. You may even see some of the amazing animals crossing the road in front of your truck! We will go on various game drives and spend our evenings at the abundant water holes for some excellent game photography. Optional Activities: Night or Dawn Game Drives in safari vehicles. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 12 Windhoek After an early morning game drive we set off towards Windhoek, the Capital city of Namibia. On the way we stop at a popular craft market where you can barter for handmade gifts to take home. Windhoek is not only the capital; it is also the cultural, social and economic centre of the Namibia. On arrival in Windhoek our guide will take us on a short city tour in our truck. Joe’s Beer House is an exciting dining experience for our optional dinner out. Optional Activities: Dinner out. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Day 13 Botswana - Ghanzi After an early start, we cross into Botswana and drive to Ghanzi. After setting up camp we meet with a local Bushman (San) community and experience some traditional tribal dancing. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 14 Maun Our journey takes us from Ghanzi towards Maun. Maun is the gateway to the Okavango Delta and this afternoon we will prepare for this excursion, packing small 2-night bags. There may be an opportunity this afternoon to visit the local crocodile farm or take a scenic flight over the Okavango Delta. Optional Activity: Crocodile Farm visit, Scenic Flight (time permitting) Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 15/16 Maun – Okavango Delta This morning we board the big 4x4 truck that will take us in to the Delta. In high-water season it is sometimes necessary to take a boat to the poling station where we meet up with the members of a local community who will be showing us their homeland. We spend 2 nights bush camping in the wilderness and, if the water level allows, we will take a mokoro (traditional canoe) trip through the waterways. We will also be going on some nature walks in the hope of seeing some wild animals in their natural habitat. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 17 Gweta We leave the Delta behind us and travel east to Planet Baobab. You can explore the bush around the campsite, lounge by the pool and view some of the region’s oldest Baobab trees. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Day 18 Botswana - Chobe National Park We travel to Chobe and this afternoon we enjoy a sunset river cruise as the animals are best spotted from the Chobe River. Elephants, Hippo, Crocodiles, Eland and many other creatures reside in Chobe so keep your cameras ready. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 19 Zimbabwe - Victoria Falls On arrival in Victoria Falls we have time to plan the next day’s adventure activities before we visit the spectacular Victoria Falls and experience the thundering of the mighty Zambezi. An optional dinner out is a friendly way to end your tour with all the new friends you’ve made along the way. Optional Activities: Chobe morning game drive, Zambezi Sunset Cruise, Dinner out, White Water Rafting, Bungee Jump, Elephant Excursion, Walking with Lions, Horse Riding and much more... Day 20 Victoria Falls Officially your tour finishes after breakfast but most people will spend the day White Water Rafting, a not-to-be-missed experience of a lifetime! Vic Falls offers many exciting alternatives such as a walk with lions or a bungee jump from the bridge that joins Zimbabwe with Zambia. Day 1 Zimbabwe - Victoria Falls Today we visit the spectacular Victoria Falls National Park. As we stay in Victoria Falls tonight, you have sufficient time to explore the falls and visit all the view-points for some great photo opportunities. It’s a good idea to arrive the day before if you would like to book any of the optional activities available. Optional Activities: White Water Rafting, Bungee Jump, Elephant Excursion Meals: Lunch, Dinner
Day 2 – Botswana - Chobe National Park We depart Victoria Falls and head towards Kasane. Upon arrival at Kasane we set up camp on the banks of the Chobe River. This afternoon we enjoy a scenic sunset boat cruise in Chobe National Park. Elephants, Hippo, Crocodiles, Eland and many other creatures reside in Chobe so keep your cameras ready. Day 3 Maun An early start and our journey take us to Maun. We spend the night here and prepare for our 2-night bush-camping experience. Your guides will provide you with a briefing about the next few days’ activities and the community run tourism operation. Optional Activities: Scenic Flight over Okavango Delta (time permitting) Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 4 Okavango Delta After breakfast we board our local 4x4 truck transport for the 2 hour trip into the Okavango Delta, where we meet with our local guides and polers for our mokoro (traditional canoe) trip to our remote bush camp. In the afternoon there is a nature walk with a local guide which gives a great chance to view wildlife on foot. Tonight is spent swapping stories around the camp fire and enjoying the serenity of the Delta. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 5 Okavango Delta There is normally an early morning nature walk with your local guides, splitting up into small groups so there is a better chance of seeing the wildlife. This is followed by breakfast and a relaxed day around the camp site. Often there is the chance to swim in the clear water. Test your skills as a mokoro poler, it’s not as easy as the locals make it look! Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 6 Delta to Maun Another early morning walk before breakfast and then it’s time to board our mokoro canoe for the trip back to the truck (depending on the water levels). Then we say good bye to our local guides and journey back to the Maun campsite for lunch and a relaxing afternoon. Do not be alarmed if we are joined at camp by a local dairy cow later in the evening as they sometimes roam through the back of the camp. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 7 Ghanzi Another early start and we drive to Ghanzi. Once at camp we will meet with a local Bushmen community and experience some traditional Tribal Dancing. There are also some traditional bushman huts that you have the opportunity to stay in for a nominal fee. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 8 Windhoek, Namibia Today is a long driving day to the Namibian border and on to Windhoek in the centre of Namibia arriving in the early evening. On arrival in Windhoek our guide will take us on a short city tour in our truck. Tonight there is an optional dinner out in town at Joe’s Beer House, definitely a feast for all the senses. Optional Activities: Dinner out at a local restaurant. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Day 9/10 Etosha National Park Leaving the city sights behind, we travel north into Namibia’s barren northern area. On the way we stop at a popular craft market where you can barter for handmade gifts to take home. We enter Etosha National Park and game drive through to our campsite for the night. On the 2nd day, there is more breathtaking game viewing en-route to a different campsite. Etosha National Park is the venue for some of the most unique game viewing experiences in Africa. We will go on various game drives, and spend our evenings at the water holes for some excellent game photography. Optional Activities: Night or Dawn Game Drives in safari vehicles. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 11 Himba Tribes Leaving Etosha we drive towards Kamanjab. The Himba are a pastoral people and predominantly breed cattle or goats. They are easily recognisable by their unique style of dress. Today you have the chance to visit the Himba camp and see how these interesting people live. The facilities at our camp site are minimal, so its best to treat this as bush camping, however there are basic outdoor showers and toilets. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 12 Spitzkoppe From culture to creation we travel to the mysterious Spitzkoppe, known as Namibia’s Matterhorn. A huge rocky outcrop where we set up camp in the wild, beneath the mountain. This afternoon our guide will take us on a guided walk to explore the unique rock formations. For the more adventurous traveller you may want to venture up the mountain behind camp before dinner for some stunning views of the landscape. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 13 Swakopmund Today we travel to Namibia’s Atlantic coast and Swakopmund, Namibia’s adventure capital. You will be briefed on the optional activities available here. At night there is an optional dinner at a local restaurant where you can try different types of local dishes. Optional Activities: Quad biking, Sand boarding, Sky Diving, Scenic Flights, Dinner etc. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Day 14 Swakopmund Today is your chance to experience the adrenalin filled atmosphere that Swakopmund offers. Most activities include a pick up and drop off service to/from your hostel. You can also take time to go to the internet café or wander through the shopping streets. Meals: Breakfast
Day 15 Sesriem After the adventure and adrenaline rush of Swakopmund, we drive south into the mysterious Namib Desert. We will be joined by a local expert on a guided hike and learn more about the unique desert ecosystem and how the bushmen survived in the harsh desert conditions. Tonight we enjoy dinner around the campfire, do a little star gazing and listen to the calls of the Jackals and barking geckos. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 16 – Sossusvlei Dunes Today is our earliest start as we wake before dawn for one of the highlights of the trip, hiking up Dune 45 to watch the sun rise. After our hike, we will have the chance to explore Sossusvlei and relax at camp before taking a short hike into Sesriem Canyon. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 17 Fish River Canyon Today we travel south to the Fish River Canyon where we hike along the edge of the canyon and see the amazing sunset. (It is possible that you may see the sunrise at the canyon next morning instead due to the road conditions or time of year you are travelling). Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 18 – Gariep / Orange River We leave early on our last day in Namibia travelling south to the border with South Africa at the Gariep / Orange River. Our campsite lies on the banks of the Orange River on the South African side. In the afternoon there is an optional canoeing activity on the River or you can just chill out at the campsite and go for a swim. Day 19 – Citrusdal Today is a long drive through the Northern Cape to the fruit producing area in the Cederberg Mountains of South Africa. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 20 Cape Town Our final day on tour, we head to the mother city, Cape Town. On the way we visit !Kwa ttu where we enjoy a San guided tour & museum visit. After the tour, lunch will be prepared and afterwards we continue to Cape Town, stopping at Table View for a magnificent view of Table Mountain from the other side of the bay. This is the spot from which the most photographs are taken of Table Mountain. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Day 1 South Africa – Cederberg Mountain Region Leaving Cape Town, there’s one last photo stop at Table View for a spectacular panorama of Table Mountain. On the way to the Cederberg we visit!Kwa ttu where we enjoy a San guided tour & museum visit. After the tour lunch will be prepared and afterwards we continue to Piketberg for wine tasting at a local wine farm. We arrive at our accommodation and your guides will give you a full briefing on the tour. Meals: Lunch, Dinner Day 2 Namibia – Gariep (Orange) River Today we travel through the Northern Cape and Namaqualand, stopping at the remote town of Springbok for any last requirements. After crossing the Namibian border we check in to the lovely chalets overlooking the river that forms the border between South Africa and Namibia. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Day 3 Gariep (Orange) River – Fish River Canyon This morning there’s the optional chance to canoe down the Gariep River (in the summer) or to spend some time relaxing in the camp along the river. After lunch we travel north to the Fish River Canyon and take a scenic hike along the rim in order to gain some perspective as to just how large this natural phenomena is, later we return to Ai-Ais to check in to our accommodation and enjoy the hot springs. Optional Activities: Half-Day Canoe Adventure. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Day 4 Ai-Ais - Kokerboom Forest This morning we travel into the Kalahari area of Namibia in order to visit the Kokerboom Forest. The Kokerboom is sometimes known as the Quiver Tree as it was often used by the indigenous Khoisan people for making quivers for their arrows. In the afternoon there is the option of some historical sightseeing on the farm that our guesthouse owns. Optional Activities: Kalahari Sundowner, Historical Sightseeing on farm Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Day 5 Bushman Community – Namib-Naukluft Park The Namib-Naukluft NP is one of Namibia’s geographic gems. There are massive sand dunes in the Sossusvlei desert area as well as the remarkable landscape. After an optional morning’s tribal interaction with the !Xung (San) people we travel to the Namib and stay the night outside the park. Optional Activities: African Tribal interaction. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Day 6 Namib-Naukluft National Park We have a full day in the Namib-Naukluft National Park that starts by being transported in to Sossusvlei. Later we travel to Dune 45 where you have the chance to hike up the dune for an amazing view and photo opportunity. In the afternoon there’s a short walk into the Sesriem Canyon. Optional Activities: Wild Cat Walk Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Day 7/8 Swakopmund We are joined by an expert local guide for a nature walk. Exploring on foot, this local guide will share his detailed knowledge of the ecosystem. Afterwards we cross the Tropic of Capricorn on our way from the Atlantic Coast. Our first stop is Walvis Bay where we may see some flamingos. Then it’s on to Swakopmund, the adventure capital of Namibia, where you will be briefed on the many optional activities available. Optional Activities: Dinner Out, Quad biking, Sand boarding, Sky Diving, Scenic Flights etc. Meals: Breakfast x 2, Lunch x 1 Day 9 Kamanjab - Himba Tribe Today we head inland towards Kamanjab in the north-west of Namibia. The following morning we will spend time with some of the semi-nomadic Himba people. The Himba are a pastoral people and are easily recognisable by their unique style of hair and dress Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Day 10/11 Etosha National Park We travel south-east to Etosha NP. The open plains allow spectacular elevated game viewing from the truck whilst on game drives. Our quality bungalow accommodation is inside the park at Okaukuejo and/or Halali which both boast floodlit night water holes where the animals come regularly to drink. Optional Activities: Morning or Night Drive with expert Namibian Game Ranger Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Day 12 Windhoek En-route to Namibia’s capital, Windhoek, we stop at a craft market where you can buy authentic African carvings and paintings. On arrival in Windhoek we take a short driving tour around the city in our truck. Optional Activities: Dinner out Meals: Breakfast, Lunch Day 13 Botswana - Ghanzi We say goodbye to Namibia and cross the Botswana border. Later we arrive at our lodge in Ghanzi, and this evening we experience some traditional tribal dancing from the local San community. Optional Activities: Game drive and bushman walk. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Day 14/15/16 Maun – Okavango Delta Maun is well known as the gateway to the Okavango Delta, the world’s largest inland delta. We spend one night in Maun and prepare for this excursion. Small planes transport us over this amazing area to our tented camp; Moremi Crossing. Once in the Delta we take a nature walk with a local expert and a guided afternoon boat cruise. If the water level allows there will also be a traditional mokoro (dug-out canoe) trip. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Day 17 Gweta A second scenic air-transfer will return us to Maun and the truck. This afternoon we drive to Planet Baobab where our evening accommodation is set amongst the majestic Baobab trees. For those wishing to learn more an optional Baobab Bush Walk is available. Optional Activity: Baobab Bush Walk Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Day 18 Chobe National Park After continuing north to Kasane, we enjoy the included sunset river cruise on the Chobe River (in the National Park) where animals such as hippos, buffalo and elephants are plentiful. Optional Activities: Chobe Game Drive (next morning) Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Day 19 Zimbabwe - Victoria Falls After an early morning optional game drive we cross into Zimbabwe where we have a short briefing on all the activities available here. Then we enter the much-anticipated Victoria Falls NP where we will experience the might of the great Zambezi River. Officially your tour finishes the next day after breakfast but most people will spend the day White Water Rafting, so we recommend an additional night be spent here. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch Day 20 Victoria Falls Your tour officially finishes after breakfast, but there is the option to book extra nights.
